Charles S. Prebish is Professor of Religious Studies at the Pennsylvania State University, USA. His prior books include
Buddhist Monastic Discipline, Buddhism: A Modern Perspective, American Buddhism,
Buddhist Ethics: A Cross-Cultural Approach, Religion and Sport: The Meeting of Sacred and Profane, and
Luminous Passage: The Practice and Study of Buddhism in America. He has published numerous professional articles in prestigious scholarly and academic journals.
He has served on the Board of Directors of the International Association of
Buddhist Studies and as Co-Chairman of the Buddhism Group of the American
Academy of Religion. He has been active in a number of other professional
organizations, including the Association for Asian Studies, American Oriental
Society, Pali Text Society, Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy, and
Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies. In 1997-98 he held a Rocke-feller
Foundation National Humanities Fellowship at the Centre for the Study of
Religion at the University of Toronto, Canada.
